Daviana Ridley – Co-Presenter and Producer

I’ve spent a lot of time in the past few years bingeing Netflix, as have all my millennial peers, and this year I’ve spent more hours than I’d care to share on Disney+ and Apple TV+ watching old and new favorites. I’m lucky enough to still be using my family’s logins, so this hasn’t been a personally expensive vice (except for my time). However, I’ve noticed the folks around me putting their money toward several streaming services that have come and gone, as well as a continuing subscription to Netflix. When it all adds up, it comes to an uncomfortably high cost per month, especially because Netflix (the OG streaming service) was supposed to be where users could find all their movies and TV shows in one low-cost service, as an alternative to costly cable packages. Now it seems like every big name is throwing their hat in the ring, trying to cash in on the streaming services cow. With all this demand on your pocket book, and not enough hours in the day to watch every program crying out to be watched, how can the average streaming services user choose between them?

They can listen to our podcast on the issue. What we’ve done is given a 1-10 point score to each service based on our personal experiences with them. While this doesn’t represent every opinion possible, it’s the best we can do as three people with microphones and too much time on our hands. We took these scores and found the average, the fairest point value. We sorted to find the best globally available streaming services. Then, because I’m a penny pincher, I couldn’t leave it there. I had to find the best value for my dollar (or, rather, the dollar of the people whose subscriptions I gratefully piggyback off of). I took the price of a standard monthly subscription from each service, then found each service’s price per point. All those hours miserably doing math homework at my dining room table finally paid off.

But as with all great TV and movies, no spoilers! You’ll have to listen to the episode to find out what we’ve ranked as both the best streaming services, and the most bang for your buck.
